I finished this book completely in love with Kaleb and I can say he is by far my favorite character (sorry Judd, I loved you for a very long time). Kaleb is one character who intrigued me since we first met him in Visions of Heat and I don't know if I ever read about character that is so ambiguous and captivating at the same time (maybe Barrons.) We were hinted in previous installments that Kaleb is beautiful and that he has immense power, but true force of both those statements we come to see in HoO. When I finally found out who the hero is I was beyond happy. In its core, Heart of Obsidian is a simple love story between two people who are anything but simple. Isn't it ironic that at the same time I find this novel to be the most romantic in series.? If you are like me, let me tell you upfront, Heart of Obsidian is that book it's the book where all the questions are answered. Story about Silence, rebellion, upcoming civil war. I'll be honest with you- although, romance in all previous books in series was lovely, I was driven by story in the background. What would you do if you were loved by most dangerous man in existence.? Some might call that inconsistency but I call it grist for the writer's mill. So far, I've worked as a lawyer, a librarian, a candy factory general hand, a bank temp and an English teacher and not necessarily in that order.

If you’d like to see some of my travel snapshots, have a look at the Travel Diary page (updated every month). I’m back in New Zealand now, but I’m always plotting new trips. I also spent three years living and working in Japan, during which time I took the chance to travel around Asia. I was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. I hope to continue living the dream until I keel over of old age on my keyboard. In September 2002, when I got the call that Silhouette Desire wanted to buy my first book, Desert Warrior, it was a dream come true. There's no other job I would rather be doing. I love creating unique characters, love giving them happy endings and I even love the voices in my head. I've been writing as long as I can remember and all of my stories always held a thread of romance (even when I was writing about a prince who could shoot lasers out of his eyes).
